Welcome to VTeX version 6.0
|
VTeX 6.0 is not just an enhanced 5.0, but
a new step toward state-of-the-art scientific typesetting.
|
Manifest
Version 6.0 manifests an important step in
TeX typesetting development.
Now VTeX outputs data to the
most of the current document formats,
including Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF),
HTML, and PostScript.
This makes
VTeX the most universal, convenient and
unexpensive tool for generating hardcopies and electronic
documents, combining high quality and
unique user-friendly interface.
Version 6.0 New Features
- Full PDF support:
- PDF-building mode of typesetter
(embedding bitmapped, IF4, PostScript or TrueType fonts)
- Generation of in-file and cross-file linked PDFs.
- Set of \special's to control advanced features
of generating PDF documents (outlines, title options,
viewing options).
- PDF-viewer intergated in desktop environment.
- PDF documentation for both VTeX-specific matters, and generic TeX/LaTeX
ones. Starting with version 6.0 we supply documentation in on-line
form. This helps to keep it up-to-the-date, and allows us to
include additional volumes at no charge. Presently on-line
documentation counts 50Mb of PDF files.
- Context help, and on-line help for our integrated desktop environment and
utility programs.
- PostScript versions of all TeX fonts. Extra fonts are available in VTeX/Pro configuration.
- Direct embedding of PostScript fonts (no need for Adobe Type Manager when
generating PDF or PostScript outputs).
- AliasPS utility easily installs your Type1 fonts for use with VTeX
(building TFM and other necessary files). No manual work required.
- New major version of Visual Equation Editor is included in distribution.
We added support for AmsTeX symbols and Euler fonts,
visual support for creation/edition
and use of user macros, keyboard shortcuts, drag-and-drop, export to bitmap
or meta-file formats, and much, much more.
- Advanced option:
if you have GhostScript interpreter installed,
you may set-up VTeX to use GhostScript
as a background rasterizer (instead of the default rasterizer, EPSEM).
Using GhostScript has the following advantages:
- support of color EPS files.
- embedding of level II EPS files.
